Travel options from Halifax:
(There are many ways to get to Digby, as you can see!)

    • By bus. Acadian Buslines travels to Digby daily, leaving from Halifax around 7pm (check here for most recent schedule), arriving in Digby at 11pm. The bus will stop at the Irving service station on the corner of Warwick Street and Montague Street. Walk up Warwick Street and take a right on Queen Street (At Robin's Donuts). Walk down Queen Street and you will find us on your right hand side. This is a short 10 minute walk. (Of course you can also take a taxi).

    • The affordable bus option: Take Acadian Buslines to Wolfville or Kentville (leaving Halifax several times a day, check here for the most recent schedule) and take Kings Transit from there. It will take you a while to get to us, but the route is scenic and you just halfed your total cost for the bus. (Just ask for transfer tickets once you get on the Kings Transit bus and you will go all the way from Wolfville or Kentville to Digby for $3.50) Extra advantage: you will get to Digby at a more reasonable hour, giving you a chance to have a look around straight away.
Get off at the Digby hospital and walk down Warwick Street. You will see the Robin's Donuts on your left hand side, on the corner with Queen Street. Walk down Queen Street and you will see us on your right hand side, almost at the end. This is a 10 minute walk

    • By shuttle bus. There are several daily shuttle services that can pick you up from Halifax (right from where you are staying) and drop you off right at the hostel. Most of these shuttles would leave Halifax between 2 and 3 pm, arriving in Digby at around 6pm.. PAB Shuttle, Cloud Nine Shuttle or Kathleen's Shuttles and Tours are some of them.

    • By car. Follow Highway 101 direction Windsor from Halifax and stay on this highway. Take exit 26 to Digby. Turn right to go to Digby and keep going until you see Robin's Donuts on your left hand side. This is Queen Street. You will find us on your right hand side several blocks down.

    • Salty Bear will drop you off in Annapolis Royal. Just give us a call and we can set up a shuttle for you, or you can take the convenient and cheap Kings Transit of course!

This will give you a chance to truly discover this part of Nova Scotia:

  • Some of the best whale watching in the world can be found in the Digby area. Take a trip up to Brier Island to go whale watching, after which the Brier Island hostel has a bbq and oceanfront deck available for you! The Brier Island hostel is one of the best hostels in Canada according to the Lonely Planet!
  • Visit Bear River, village on stilts. Native heritage, artist studios, and a solar aquatics waste water treatment plant (one of the first in North America!) will keep you busy.
  • Take the chance to go to the farmers market in Annapolis Royal and spend some more time here. After all, this is the first capital of Nova Scotia and one of the oldest permanent European settlements in North America.

    Travel options from Saint John:
    • Take the ferry. You can also take the ferry from Saint John, New Brunswick, to Digby. This approximately 3 hour ferry ride will bring you right to Digby. Take a taxi from the ferry terminal, as it is a 6 km walk to downtown Digby.

Travel options from Yarmouth:

  • By car. If you take the Highway 101 to Digby, it will only take you about one and a half hours to get to Digby from Yarmouth. However, if you have the chance, take the old Highway 1: there a lots of beautiful stops along the way! Port Maitland beach, the Bangor Mills sawmill, Smuggler's Cove, and Mavilette Beach are some of them.

  • By Shuttle Bus. PAB Shuttle, Cloud Nine Shuttle and Kathleen's Shuttle and Tours can get you from Yarmouth to Digby.

Getting around:
