The area lends itself perfectly to many outdoor activities. Some of them we mention right below here. Please be patient with us as this part of the website is under constant development. Just by looking at the activities listed so far below you can see though that you could easily spend several days in the area, and we haven't even listed the possible day trips to Annapolis Royal, Digby Neck and Islands tour, or regular festivals and events here!

Check out our whale watching special here.
Golfing
The Stanley Thompson Golfcourse right in Digby is an 18-hole championship golf course winding its way through the landscape. It is widely considered to be one of the most challenging golf courses in Canada.
Hiking / bicycling (We offer bicycle rentals for only $15 a day!)
There are many many trails out there and we will slowly keep adding to this part of the website. One of the best websites out there to find hiking trails, or to find a group hike is the Scotian Hiker website. Check their calendar for upcoming hikes, or take a look at their newsletters for great tips on trails (including how to get there, personal experiences, etc.!). Contact

Some ideas are:
- Bicycle/Hike to Smith's Cove - take the old railroad tracks right at the end of Queen Street for some beautiful views along the way and picnic at Bear River lighthouse.
- Bicycle to Bear River - Bear River is a perfect bicycle ride away and offers a great day trip. About 15 kilometers away and as long as you follow the road along the river the trip is not too hilly either. You can choose to follow the old railroad tracks (be prepared for a couple of rough spots, although is is very do-able - we've tried it ourselves!) into Smith's Cove and then follow the road along the river to Bear River. The other option is to stay on the main road, although this does mean cycling along the highway 101 for a little while. It would then be exit 24 to Bear River.
- Bicycle to Point Prim Lighthouse in Digby - enjoy the views of the Bay of Fundy while going for a walk on the rocky shores. You can get here by car or bicycle. When going by bicycle: take Shore Road along the water (towards the ferry) for a nice ride with nice water views. Then go up the dirt road located almost at the ferry terminal, which will take you to the lighthouse. From there, take Lighthouse Road back (which is then all the way downhill!). GREAT SUNSETS OVER THE BAY OF FUNDY HERE AS WELL!!!
- Balancing Rock trail - this trail can be found on Long Island, just past Tiverton you'll see the parking lot on your left. Be prepared for loads of stairs at the end! You'll need a car to get here though.
- Hike Shubel Mountain at Sandy Cove for an amazing view - from Mount Shubel you can see both Saint Mary's Bay AND the Bay of Fundy. Best way to get here is by car or Kathleen's Shuttle, although experienced cyclists could do it (be aware that there are hills!)
- Hike or bike on Brier Island (again: stay at the hostel there!)
- Walk to the Lookout point at The Pines Resort in Digby
- Stroll along the beach right in Digby. Just follow the trail starting right across from the Siesta Motel and take the stairs down a little ways further. Especially at low tide this is a great place to go with long stretches of beach.
